Thailand 'is a winter hotspot'
According to the Times, many people from the UK are looking at spending the winter months in a hot and sunny location overseas.
Thailand was flagged up as one ideal destination for this group, as it offers excellent weather conditions at this time of year.
In addition, it was also said to be highly affordable, particularly during the fortnight before Christmas.
"After a dismal summer we're all craving some winter sun," the Times commented.
This suggests that investors who own rental accommodation in hotspots such as Phuket could be set to benefit from higher occupancy rates.
The publication added that people who venture overseas at the right time could stand to save "significant" amounts of money.
Earlier this month, the Times highlighted Thailand as a very popular location among second home buyers from the UK.

Tourists set to flock to Turkey
Owners of rental accommodation in Turkey could be in line to benefit from an influx of British visitors.
New figures from M&S Money have revealed that Turkish lira have been in high demand among consumers in the UK.
The organisation has attributed this development to exchange rates in the rest of Europe, as the euro is currently much stronger than the pound.
As a result, British leisure travellers can get more for their money by travelling outside the eurozone to places which offer more favourable rates.
This trend is likely to be good news for property investors who have invested in Turkish tourist hotspots, as it means demand for rental accommodation is likely to go up.
Fraser Millar, head of travel services at M&S, commented: "As the pound has weakened against the euro, travellers are looking for value-for-money holidays in non-euro resorts."
This comes after the Association of British Travel Agents recently reported a surge in the number of summer bookings for Turkey this year.

Dubai's new airport terminal opens for business
The connectivity of Dubai has received a significant boost with the opening of a new terminal at its international airport.
Terminal 3 opened for business today, although the facility is set to expand further as part of an incremental expansion.
As a result, Dubai International Airport will be able to handle a greater number of flights to destinations such as the US, Europe and South America.
This should significantly enhance its appeal among leisure and business travellers, which in turn may lead to extra interest among foreign property buyers.
According to Arabian Business, consumers are hopeful that the introduction of the new terminal will go smoothly.
A poll carried out by the media outlet found that 85 per cent believe it will go to plan, avoiding the type of scenes witnessed at Heathrow's Terminal 5 earlier this year.
Meanwhile, more than one in three respondents said aviation officials have done a good job in preparing for the opening.

Lifestyle buyers advised to enter rental market
According to Shelter Offshore, the income generated from rental yields could help cover the cost of looking after a foreign residence.
Therefore, it has suggested that people who feeling the effects of the credit crunch consider easing the financial burden by opening their doors to tenants.
The online portal said the holiday market could be particularly lucrative, as rental accommodation is still in high demand.
Shelter Offshore commented: "Renting out your property can be a practical way to reap some financial rewards for having a lovely place in the sun."
The website added that using a property to generate money would effectively mean it is paying for itself.
This comes after DirectHolidayBookings.co.uk said a growing number of holiday home owners are already turning to the rental market.
Managing director Andrew Gibson said these people are using the rental yields to supplement their main income.

Spain remains popular with Britons
The European country was highlighted as the most popular destination for families over the upcoming school holidays by Skyscanner.
According to the flight search engine, this demonstrates the continuing appeal of Spain to consumers from the UK.
Barry Smith, chief of business development at Skyscanner, commented: "Spain has always been very popular with British holidaymakers, and it seems it's still the favourite."
He stated that the country is still an attractive option because it offers relatively low prices, good weather and easy access from the UK.
Skyscanner found that Alicante was one of the main hotspots for those heading abroad in the October half-term, along with Malaga, Tenerife and Murcia.
According to Spanish tourism institute Frontur, the country hosted more than 41 million visitors between January and August.
